SREA proudly sponsored the Spring Garden Street Pop-Up Greenway Event, hosted by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council (“PEC”), on September 20, 2014. The PEC would like to create a Greenway on the 2.2 mile connection between the Schuylkill River and the Delaware River on Spring Garden Street to provide easier access for bikers and pedestrians. This Greenway will replace the cement medians currently in place and provide a safer, quieter and more accessible corridor. The 900 block of Spring Garden Street was transformed for a day with art installations, trees, benches and a multi-use median trail to give visitors a visual idea of the potential of this corridor. The PEC believes this corridor can be the catalyst needed to strengthen the surrounding neighborhoods for social and economic development.
This map from the Circuit shows the completed plan for the Spring Garden Street Greenway.
