A community development financial institution (CDFI), that manages over $706 million in capital, engaged SREA to manage and dispose of its real estate owned (REO) portfolio, consisting of the following:

  •  A mixed-use retail/residential project located within a university setting:
  • A charter high school campus consisting of three (3) educational facilities
  • An industrial warehouse complex located within the path of progress

In addition, the CDFI retained SREA to assess the financial strength and condition of underlying assets associated with troubled mortgages, consisting of the following:

  • A two-building residential complex in the midst of a condo conversion
  • A grocery store anchored retail center located near an urban university campus

How SREA Added Value

During a twelve-month period, SREA was able to successfully market and sell the CDFI’s entire portfolio and achieve optimal value.  Highlights of the assignment included:

  • Achieving a 31% increase in sale proceeds from one (1) asset through sale negotiations
  • Exceeding expectations by selling an asset at a price 177% higher than book value
